Well, I finally finished it. The second Shoalwater shawl in a beautiful yarn. It was so much fun to knit but I am very excited that it is done and over with now.
I think the yarn choice was perfect for the project, the colors striped exactly the way I wanted them to and it even ended up staying the same color as I did the I-cord edging at the top instead of changing colors in the middle of the shawl.
Above, you will see the unblocked shawl laid out on my horrible brown shag carpeting. It was the only place I could put it to get a decent shot as it rained all day today. Below, you will see a picture of my mother modeling it so that the lace pattern is somewhat noticeable. It looks very large on her but she is only 5'1" to my 5'9" so it won't be so large on me.
My rating of this project is a B+. It was my first large project (at least the first one that I started) and I was basically a beginner so it took me a while to figure out everything in the pattern. Hence, the "practice" run I did with a cheap, bulky, variegated wool yarn that ended up so large the twins use it for a blanket and can share it! It ended up being a fairly easy pattern once you got into it even though it looks very complicated on paper! (There ARE 76 rows before you start the repeats!) I would definitely recommend it to someone who wants something a little more challenging.

It is beautiful!!
I just started one in some inexpensive red heart as my "trial run".
You have inspired me to continue plugging along with it.
