As everyone has probably noticed it has been a while since I have updated my blog. I had surgery November 1st and just haven't felt like doing anything plus I have to come downstairs to download pics and such. We have two computers but my camera won't download on Bart's notebook because I am too lazy to put the right software on it. Anyway, I just haven't felt like coming downstairs lately.
I am aware that my last post was about the middle of our trip and I never got around to finishing. Since it has been so long I will make it short and sweet for those of you who care what we did! :-)
After Lucerne, Bart went back to work so he was gone most of the day, every day. I spent some time exploring. I went to Bern and Interlaken. I really enjoyed taking the trains everywhere. The public transport there is awe-inspiring. Too bad we have nothing like that around here because life would be so much easier.
When Bart was done with his class, we took a train to Vienna, Austria. I splurged (actually it was an accident) and got first class seats which was really nice since it was a 9 hour trip. The scenery was beautiful. We got there around 7 pm, checked in, ate dinner and then went to bed. We spent all of the next day sightseeing in Vienna. There was too much to see in 1 day but we had a wonderful time. I really enjoyed the tour we took of the Schonbrunn Palace. It was magnificent. The next day we flew to Edinburgh.
We spent the night at a friend's house then spent a day sightseeing in Edinburgh. As far as I was concerned this was the best part of the trip. The food was great and I knew what I was ordering which made it even better. Everyone we met was really nice and the sights were great, all of those old buildings.
The next day we took the train to London. We spent one full day sightseeing in London. We saw Madame Tussaud's and spent quite a bit of time in the Tower of London. The tickets for the bus tour we used included a Thames river cruise which was fun. Also, the first night we were there we took a Jack the Ripper Dinner Tour. THAT was a lot of fun. I find the Ripper case fascinating, I even wrote a paper on it in high school, so it was interesting to go to all of the murder sights and hear all the theories of the case. The tour guide was very knowledgeable.
That is basically all of our trip. London was our last stop and then we flew home to the states. Got stuck in Cincinatti for 7 hours on the return trip. My poor father spent like 9 hours at the airport waiting for us. He read two books while he waited. lmao And everyone makes fun of me for carrying a book everywhere! I have TONS of pics of the trip but I haven't put them on the blog. I uploaded them to the web but I don't have the address right this instant. I will post it later.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Xmas and a Happy New Year!! Happy Holidays to everyone!
