Happy New Year, everyone! I'm so excited. I love the New Year holiday. Everything is just the same but it seems like anything could happen. Anyway, I haven't been online since right after Xmas. Tons of mail to catch up on. I hope Skye is better Roxy. It seems like kids are getting sick over and over this winter, even worse than normal. I had to take Madelyn to the ER Friday. She'd been running a low grade temp and while I was at work it just kept creeping up even with all the Tylenol and Motrin. By the time I got home it was 102.4 degrees and the doctor told me to take her in immediately. She tested positive for upper respiratory flu. Poor baby. She's better now though and so far no one else is sick. Knock on wood.
I had an interesting knitting related discussion with DH last night. (Stop reading now if you are offended by bondage related knitting items!:-) He was at the bar with his friend Friday night and got to talking with some of the women I work with. After a few drinks, they start discussing sex (which is a fairly normal topic of discussion after a few drinks when it comes to my friends), specifically handcuffs. Well, Bart (my hubby) tells them that they need to not waste their money on handcuffs or toss them out if they already have because they are very restrictive and they damage the bedposts. (Ask me how he knows...lol) Then he tells them if they really want to try bondage they should go buy some restraints made out of cloth. Of course, my friends are looking at Bart like he has grown a second head. He's the last person (even if he IS a man) you would look at and think "Hmmmm, I bet he's really kinky." Much less that he would have contemplated the subject of the perfect bondage items. Now, what does this have to do with knitting you ask? Well, last night he was telling me that he had had this discussion with the girls and it reminded me of that book Andrea (?) was talking about, the one with the patterns for ball gags and such. Which led me to telling him about the book. Which led into a discussion about why would anyone want a gag made of yarn especially wool yarn which would probably suck every bit of moisture out of your mouth but then at least you wouldn't be gagging on your drool... I'm sure you get the picture but this eventually led to a discussion of custom made knitted restraints. (I'm sure someone must have come up with a pattern for this at some point. Right?) Apparently, Bart doesn't think knitting is so boring now. We ended up discussing a theoretical pattern for hand and feet restraints that wouldn't cut off circulation, gave enough for comfort but were firm enough that you couldn't get out of them, etc, etc, etc. It was an interesting discussion and I think I may have come up with an actual pattern in my head, however not exactly the way I thought my hubby would get involved (or mildly interested even) in my knitting. ;-) It also occurred to me to wonder, if people go into sleazy sex stores and pay massive amounts of money for those cheap satin and fur restraints, I wonder if those same people would appreciate a well-knitted set? Because if so, I have a friend who needs me to make her some... ;-)
I guess I should have known the only way Bart would talk knitting with me was if it involved sex. lol

I was just trying to see if the internet could help me find a pattern for knit or crochet bondage restraints and the like. This is really interesting, I'm glad you made a blog post about it!
