Winter Hats
I know, I know... It's only July, WHY would I start making winter hats? The heat index around here is somewhere between 105 and 115 degrees. I gotta tell you though, it's all the fault of that lady at the LYS. (The new LYS that I recently discovered that is actually about 15 miles closer to home, go figure! :-)
Anyway, as I was saying... I go to the LYS just to check things out, see what they have and I run across this yarn. Plymouth's Heaven. In pink. I'd never felt it before, the name fits. It is definitely heaven sent. It's so soft and fluffy and I just couldn't resist it. Especially when I spied another yarn called Geisha next to it that was purple and my only thought was "Gotta have it, gotta have it, what am I gonna make with it?" You know how it is...
So that's how it happened that I spent three days last week making winter hats during my knitting time. I used the Knitting Without Tears watchcap pattern that uses the Prime Rib stitch. I love that pattern so much I've photocopied and laminated it so I don't have to worry about ruining the page. Of course, I'm not so good at seaming yet and the girlies have already managed to put holes in the hats that I'm gonna have to go back and fix but that's a small price to pay for the delight of running that yarn through my fingers! :-)
I've already been back to the LYS. This time I got some of SWTC's new 100% corn yarn. I'm making myself a hat with it. I got just enough to make a hat to try out the yarn. I wasn't too sure I would like it because in the ball it isn't very soft although the colors are very vibrant. However, once you get started knitting with it, the fabric turns out very soft, kinda silky and smooth. I think I'm going to get enough to make a top with it. Although, that is several projects down on my To Knit list.
