It's been a long time since I have updated my blog. So much has happened since the last time I was on here I'm not sure where to start.
First things first, I guess, I flew to Switzerland on October 5th. It is a very LONG trip and I've never been on a flight that long. By the time I got to Zurich, I was exhausted and I still had to take the train to the town where Bart was staying. After getting lost trying to find the ticket office and then the right train track, I finally got to the right train. I had to wait almost a half hour before the correct train came through; then as I was getting on the train and man stopped to help me. After lugging my 100 pounds of luggage up onto the train and putting it up on a rack, he stopped abruptly and asked if we were in 1st or 2nd class. We were in 2nd and he said he needed 1st. In the meantime, the person behind me (I think it was a man) bumped into me. (Do you see where I'm going with this?) After navigating around the first man, I sat down and I assume he got off the train. My backpack was hanging open and my purse was missing! I was so ticked off I could have screamed. I just knew that the guy who helped me had purposely held me up so his partner could get into my backpack. Luckily, my passport was in the front pocket with a box of tampons and it didn't get taken. My advice: When you go out of the country, put all of your cash, ID, credit cards, etc. into a box of tampons even if you have no need for them... no man will steal your tampons!! :-)
The woman sitting across the aisle from me must have thought I was a loon. Halfway to Aarau, (the town we were staying in) I started laughing uncontrollably. I realized that I got the better end of the deal, he carried my 100 lbs of luggage onto the train so that he could get 2 credit cards, a driver's license, and a make-up brush. All of my cash was in my pocket and he wimped out and didn't get my passport. I like to think of that as divine justice!
So my first hour in Switzerland was very eventful. I couldn't wait to get to the rest of the trip! :-)
