Bart and I took the train to Lucerne. Upon arrival, we purchased tickets to take a trip up Mt. Pilatus. The first leg of the trip was a boat ride from Lucerne to the base of the mountain. There are about 2o places the boat stops along the way which makes it quite a long ride but the view was just gorgeous. You are out on the lake in a boat with mountain views on all sides of you. I took tons of pictures on the ride, this is just one of them.

Once you get to the base of the mountain, there is a trolley ride up to the top. At the top there are several shops, a restaurant, trails to explore, etc. You could spend a whole day, maybe two just exploring the mountain. As well as taking the trolley to the top, you can hike up, not the I am that adventurous but some people are crazy enough to do it. :-)
