Well, I joined the Ravelry bandwagon. I've decided (and I'm sure I've said this before:-) that I am going to get my knitting organized and make time for blogging. I really enjoy blogging but I'm just so busy that months go by and I realize I haven't posted a single entry, which is quite sad really!
My knitting had seriously slowed down this year. At the beginning of the year, I was having some pretty serious health issues plus I started working full time last summer. Needless to say, I'm extremely busy! I'm going to make more time, though, to put some thoughts to paper (or computer anyway). I figure if I write a post every single time I get on the Ravelry site then I will definitely get more posts done.
Today, I was off work because it is Columbus Day. I work for the state government so I think I'm in probably one of three job choices where I would get holiday pay for Columbus Day. Man, I love working for the state. My oldest was sick, though, so I couldn't do any of the things I was planning to do other than clean house. I decided that I would work on getting my stash entered into my notebook at Ravelry. I only got about 1/3 of it entered and I haven't even started on my needles but it was a good start.
I did manage to put up two of my WIPs. The Abundance Afghan I'm knitting for my brother for Xmas and a beaded shawl that I started this weekend. The shawl I am designing myself so it is slow going. This is the first lace project that I am designing and I had to make it even more difficult by using beads also! What can I say, I love a challenge! Besides, the yarn just cried out "Beads, I NEED beads!". It is a nice change from the plain garter stitch of the afghan.
I also got up a photo of a handbag I made sometime last year. I'm not sure when I made it, I can't even remember what yarn I used. I do remember that the yarn came from Walmart and was named after the planet Mars. I'm going to go searching and hopefully, I can find it. I'll let you know.
So far, I really love Ravelry. I recommend it to anyone who wants to organize their yarns and needles. I've joined two groups so far and it is a great place to find people who are interested in the same things I am... knitting, knitting, more knitting, crochet, knitting, etc. etc. etc. There is a section where you can search for patterns and also for yarns. It is just a great overall site and I encourage anyone who is interested in fiber to head on over and check it out. Just click on the title of this post!
