Stage Fright

I'm taking an Intro to Speech class this term. Tonight, I gave the first of five speeches that are assigned for it. Since I am taking this class in an online format, I have to record myself giving the speech in front of an audience (not less than 3 adults) then mail the videotapes to my instructor.

Of course, my audience consists of people I know--in this case, family members. My brother, sister-in-law and mother were kind enough to consent to being my audience. How sweet of them!! You would think that giving a speech in front of not only people you know but actual family members would make the experience easier. Alas, I am here to tell you that, especially for someone who suffers from extreme stage fright, the experience was still excruciatingly painful!! Yes, I said EXCRUCIATING! It was horrible. I gave the speech twice as practice in front of them and STILL managed to flub up the real thing. It was horrible. Even though in real life I rarely ever use vocalized pauses, as soon as that camera turned on I was incapable of starting a new sentence without saying "and" plus I said "umm" several times. The worst part was I was fully aware of what I was doing and trying to stop myself made me lose my train of thought.

I don't think I will be getting an A in this class. Shit, there goes my 4.0 GPA!! lol

Knitting (or not)

Well, I have to confess that I haven't done much knitting lately. I have lots and lots of yarn, lots and lots of things I WANT to knit but it seems like every time I start a project something comes up. SOOOO, I think I should change this blog from a knitting blog (which I obviously haven't been doing much of) to a whatever-the-heck-I-happen-to-be-doing-at-this-moment blog. I think I might even add in a link to a book of the week/month with a review by moi. I love to read and I do a lot of it so I might as well tell everyone what I think of the books I'm reading and help them choose a good read or avoid a truly bad one, right? Of course, this is all based on the assumption that someone is actually reading the crap that is pouring out of my mind onto this blog page!

Tune in tomorrow for an update of my online college experience... Oooh, what fascinating stuff that will be!! lmao

Life or something like it...

Have I heard that somewhere before?? Well, if that is a quote that I have heard somewhere I apologize to the original speaker... In any case, my life has become a series of "Oh. My. God."s and "What were you thinking?"s, which I guess is better than living some boring old, so-called normal life but not when you are the one living it. It seems like every day one of my kids is doing something that is guaranteed to shoot my blood pressure through the roof; or my husband is the culprit. Usually, by the end of (insert situation here), I'm convinced that I am the one who is crazy-- not those gorgeous, loving children that I gave birth too! Is it mommy-hormones or complete insanity?

Does anyone else out there have these moments or am I the only crazy one?

Hiatus

Obviously, I was on extended hiatus from blogging! LMAO Actually, I just now realized (when I got onto Blogspot anyway) how long it has actually been since I have been on here. Not that I haven't had plenty to talk about but more that I have had way too much going on around here.

Just a brief overview and hopefully I can flesh in the skeleton tomorrow...

David lost his mind... then I lost mine!

I realized the girls are not little anymore... I cried at Xmas when I realized... I covered my head and lost my mind again!

I started a new job last June... I really like it... I get to search prisoner mail... every day I feel like I've lost my mind!

We are trying to sell our house and buy another one... we waited until late fall to decide this... have I lost my mind wanting to move in the middle of the winter? You decide... :-)

I started online classes to finish my Bachelors' Degree... a lot of work involved... Final straw, is my mind gone permanently? Probably. Do I want it back? Probably not.

Are you starting to see a pattern here? I need to knit but I haven't really been able to even start anything. I have tons of UFOs though.

Going to bed now. Have a great night! Maybe someone out there will find my mind and take good care of it....

Etsy

Well, I joined Etsy.com, which is something similiar to eBay. It isn't an auction site but you can find tons of stuff there. The biggest difference is that it is a site to sell handmade goods and such. I've seen handmade soaps, stitch markers, clothes, purses, etc. It has way more than that but I haven't been able to go through it all yet. Even I'm not that great of a shopper! lol I've purchased some things there and I'm actually planning to sell some things also when I get some pics taken. I've started making bath salts and I'm working on some soaps too. When I get them up, I will post again so everyone can come check them out.
